SEO Web Design Tips

SEO Web Design is about balance. That is, you must balance the needs of your users with those of the search engines. Your web site must not only be visually appealing, it must also appeal to the search engine spiders.

When designing a site, you must consider search engine optimization if you want the search engines to consider your site relevant when your customers search for your products and services.  SEO Web Design ensures that your website follows good design principles while applying SEO expertise to create a useful and eye-catching site that ranks highly with the most popular search engines.

The goal of search engine optimization is to build and develop a website that ranks in the top 10 for your target keyword or phrase, and preferably in the top 3.  Here are a few tips for effective SEO web design:

Begin With the End in Mind

Typically companies seeking to have their website optimized for the search engines will build their site, and then hire a SEO company to “fix it”. A smarter approach is to consider the goals of your site before building it. How will you generate traffic to your site? Incorporating SEO techniques into the design of your site from the beginning will ultimately be less costly and result in a more successful website.

Domain Name Selection

Choosing the right domain name is very important both in terms of branding and search engine optimization.  A name with your main keywords combined with a link building campaign can increase your rankings and boost traffic to your website.  The challenge is finding a keyword optimized domain still available that is also easy for users to remember.

Install a Blog

There are many SEO benefits from installing a blog on your website. These include structured content, link management, fresh content, RSS, and user comments. A blog can exists as a section of your website, or it can serve as the framework upon which your entire site is built.

Offer Both Information and Products

If you offer products for sale on your site, you should balance this information with content your users will find useful. Seek to provide value, and not simply to sell. People usually research a product before deciding on a purchase.  An e-commerce site containing only products and a shopping cart will not appeal to people in the process of gathering information on a particular product.

When designing a website, the designer’s primary focus should be on the needs of the user.  Effective SEO Web Design combines usability with search engine optimization.  A user-friendly and SEO-friendly web site design will attract the right target audience and maximize a website’s potential to generate traffic and ultimately income.

These are awesome tips right here, thank you very much for sharing ’em.

I am fairly new with this gig so I appreciate all the help I get. Finding that balance you speak of is quite difficult for me and my team, we made a lot of mistakes when we were starting. I think I have the “visually appealing” nailed but we need a lot of help getting the website to google.

I am in agreement your view. My research has shown your points to be true, but I have also read the opposite from other sites like this one. Do you have any ideas for finding more savvy ideas on natural health or related topics? I would most appreciate it!
